If you have been following along you may have known that MBCO was chosen to be one of the photographers for the Real Maine Wedding of the Year in 2019. And, if you haven’t seen the magazine, grab one and flip to page 116! It was a true honor to be chosen and a dream of mine since starting this business. I still remember the day I found out. I was working in my garden and I think everyone could hear me down the street cheering with joy.

Fast forward to day one of planning. We started the day by meeting the winners, Katie & Colby at the Custom House in downtown Portland. They were so cute and we were so excited to finally meet them. We also met with Fausto the couples wedding planner, Christine from RMW and Elishia from E. Grace Design also met us there. This location was going to host their rehearsal dinner the night before the big day. We walked through and Fausto went over the vision of the space and we were there to capture it all.

It was now time to get our grub on so we walked across the street to Rir
á Irish Pub. This place is so cute and the food is amazing. Which had to be one of the reasons RMW picked this spot for the welcome party for all of Katie & Colby’s guests. We met with Desiree the manager in the Bay view room and the couple discussed appetizers and drinks that would be served. The great thing about the space upstairs is that it was decorated so well there was no need for any decor to be added. It is the perfect spot to host any type of special event.

Following our lunch, we made our way over to Day’s Jewelers in South Portland. Katie and Colby met with Leo and they picked out their favorite jewelry that would be decided on by all the voters. That’s right! The couple would pick their favorites and the voters would help decide which one would be picked for the couples wedding day. Katie and Colby spent time walking through the store trying on different rings and beautiful wedding day jewelry. Umm, can I do that too?

Lastly, we finished the day at Dube Travel where the couple discussed their travel plans for their honeymoon. They were going to be headed to Marigot Bay Resort and Marina on St. Lucia and I was going in their suitcase, just saying. They went over all the little details of their trip and it all sounded amazing. It was getting real and their wedding would be here in no time.
